On Expertise

Okay, everyone who's read my blog entries this far can probably guess with some high degree of accuracy that I'm something of a beer snob. It's the way I've been since my buddy Mark introduced me to Left Hand's Sawtooth Ale way back when I started drinking beer. I started off with craft brews and imports, I didn't misspend any of my youth on watery, fizzy yellow swill. I take this stuff seriously. The website's called Brewdies, for god's sake.

The Four Best Taprooms in Colorado

Saying that so-and-so or what-and-what is the best of anything is always a sticky situation, and I'm wholly aware of the risk involved biting the hand that feeds you (or in this case, serves up your pints) but as Denver has recently become something of one of the new promised lands for craft brewing, I feel that it's important to provide potential beer-tourers a handy-dandy guide to the best stops in the area.

Stella Birthday

So I just had my quarter of a century birthday this past week and you would think it would have been stellar because it was on 10-10-10 in Austin, TX - my very first birthday in Austin. I mean, come on, that has to be bad ass right? It just has to!

Build Your Own Beer Fest

Ah, October. Pumpkin stouts, uber-hoppy seasonals, and Germany’s month to rack up some beer-goggled sexy points for gifting us Oktoberfest. While cities around the US tap into their most highly reputed beer buffs to say Guten Tag to beer fests, Pat Sargent, a recent Bryant College grad, brewed up a different plan, making him our first official Friend With Beer.

Brew Stories - Stone Brewing Company - with Greg Koch

In this episode, Greg tells us the secret behind Arrogant Bastard Ale. He spills the beans - exact recipe and all. Ok, so he didn't give us the exact recipe, but we do know that a few things were accidentally doubled. We talk about the evolution of the craft beer and how Stone Brewing fits into the equation. Furthermore, we learned that Greg's favorite beer is their IPA. I agree, although the oaked Arrogant Bastard is pretty damn good. Buy a sixer if you ever come across it. And... the rest of the lineup rocks as well.
