Adventures In Homebrewing

I brewed my first beer last weekend. I'm pretty proud of myself, and pretty excited to see how it comes out. From what I gather, that's a pretty common sentiment with one's first batch of homebrew, so forgive my girlish giddiness.

Impelled by my friend (and local Brew Ninja) Mark, who's been doing and championing homebrewing as a way to get exactly the kind of beer you want in much more quantity than you really need for a while now, I decided to take his advice and tap into his vast array of brewing knowledge, convincing him to co-author a beer with me.

An introduction

Brain Lubricant. We all love it, and it happens to be the name of one of my beers soon to be available on the shelves. I'm starting a brewery. Here after, will be a detailed chronicle of the entire process of going from home brewer, to owning a commercial brewery. My hope is to demystify the whole process so that more home brewers take the initiative, and give it a go themselves. That means more good beer for all of us! Where does one start? Well, I’m starting with beer. Trying to make good, consistent batches of beer.

Stella Birthday

So I just had my quarter of a century birthday this past week and you would think it would have been stellar because it was on 10-10-10 in Austin, TX - my very first birthday in Austin.  I mean, come on, that has to be bad ass right?  It just has to!
